PADI / Recognition rating

Master Scuba Diver.

A mark of broad recreational training and real-world experience, earned through core certifications, specialty courses, and logged dives.

What the rating means

Experience recognized.

The PADI Master Scuba Diver rating is the highest recreational recognition in the PADI system. It is not a standalone course or a professional rating, and it does not authorize someone to lead or supervise other divers.

What PADI requires

  • Be at least 12 years old.
  • Hold Rescue Diver or Junior Rescue Diver certification, plus the required Open Water and Advanced Open Water levels (qualifying certifications from another agency may count).
  • Hold five PADI Specialty Diver certifications.
  • Have at least 50 logged dives.

Once I verify your certifications and logged dives meet the requirements, I’ll complete the application and submit it to PADI on your behalf.

Application help, on me.

If you have purchased one of my photographs, dived with me before, or are booking a course or coaching with me, I’ll review, complete, and submit your eligible Master Scuba Diver application to PADI on your behalf at no service charge. PADI may charge a separate application or certification fee.

PADI reviews the application and determines whether to award the rating after the required certifications and dives are verified.
